I could not get your solution to work.

- root@ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# chroot /myroot dpkg -x libc6_2.7-5ubuntu2_i386.deb
- dpkg-deb: --extract needs a target directory.
- Perhaps you should be using dpkg --install ?
