Since Edgy you can use the same printer configuration tool as Fedora Core 6: system-config-printer.
All you need to do is install the system-config-printer package.
We also have CUPS 1.2 since Dapper and the new GTK+ Print Dialog is already used by evince since Edgy.
Therefore closing this bug as "Fix Released".
