I'm confused by the description of this ticket, but is this about holding the Shift key during boot not working as intended? I'm asking because that's what I'm experiencing. That is, I'm unable to bring up the boot menu by holding down Shift at boot time.

Also, I was looking at Bug #502138 which to me looks related to said issue (although they might be completely separate as well).
