believe you should be able to install the kernel (and perhaps the i686
libc6).

Honestly, I don't know if it will help. I'm clutching at straws, trying
to figure out what might be going on, based on the logs you've posted.
Given that the kernel is ultimately responsible for hibernation and
resume, having a kernel optimized for your processor may help. But no
guarantees....
