Hello,

I haven't tried using ubuntu 7.10 on this laptop so I don't know if the issue was solved or not yet.

What I do know is that it's not the bios settings (although they may have helped you) - I use Sabayon now (with the said settings turned on) and the F2 button works. If you ever decide to turn them back to the way they were, you can see if wifi is killed or not by running 'iwconfig' in a console. If it says 'unassociated' (or associated, of course) then it is on. if says 'off' in the 'power' tab, then it is turned off (I hope I made sense).
