Walter (wxl23) I think your issue is powerpc specific. If you look back on the reporters on this particular bug we were doing desktop amd64 installs on either Ubuntu or Lubuntu. Like philinux, I also ran the 20121001 amd64 Desktop Lubuntu and Ubuntu last night and both the live sessions were fine as reported on the qa-tracker.
