i also have this problem with a vanilla 2.6.24.3 self build kernel.

The funny thing is, if you open the System Monitor-Resource view, the mouse is smooth, as soon you close the system monitor, synergy is more or less not usable anymore.

The workaround running synergyc as root is also working here, thanks for the tip!

I hope someone finds the real reason, or it is fixed in the kernel.
