I'm on 10.10, uname -a: Linux monolake 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux, recently upgraded with a fresh install from 9.10.

When I plug in my Canon Ixus camera, I see a mixture of very, very slow transfer speeds, or sometimes very fast speeds followed by nothing at all, sometimes until the camera go to sleep and dismounts before the files can be transferred. With large files > 1Gb, I sometimes see no activity at all for about 5 mins, then it will suddenly start transferring very fast, then hang with only a few Mb to go, doing nothing.
