For the record, my Dell Studio 1558 (BIOS version A04) does not behave exactly as described in comment #39...
I find that if I press the video out key just once (or if I press it multiple times, but wait at least a few seconds between each press) then I never get the weird injected <Enter> after the Super + P sequence. (In a terminal window, this just looks like I've typed a lower-case 'p'). However, if I press the video out key more than once in quick succession, then about 0.5 seconds after I stop pressing it I do get a single injected <Enter>.
To summarize, I only ever get the weird injected <Enter> if I press video out more than once in a short timeframe.
