Comment 26 for bug 555709

FWIW, I still use the same hardware, but haven't seen the bug occur anytime since moving away from Kubuntu Lucid. I'm on a bare-metal install of Precise right now, with full updates, and the dimming problem is gone. However, setting the screen brightness via the slider in the KDE system tools or applets still doesn't work. So maybe the underlying (kernel) problem persists.
