I am running a fully updated Kubuntu 12.04 on an Acer Aspire 7739-6830 which has an Intel HD 3000 video chip.
This msg is repeated a dozen times as the temperature approaches 141F.
intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP limit exceeded: Avg power 37082, limit 35000
When the ACPI temp rises above 141F this Acer shuts down ungracefully, corrupting several inodes.
acpi -V gives:
