Fabio,

I did have it installed. I removed it and went back to Lucid this morning after hours of frustration. Lucid is working fine, with absolutely no issues. I installed 10.10 2 different ways with the exact same results. First, I did an upgrade from 10.04. When I had the problem, I did a new install (erased the hd and installed the new OS), and had the same problem. When I installed wicd, I completely lost all connectivity, and could not activate the broadcomm wireless drivers. The system would lock up completely. I like the look of the new release, but can't make it work, and since I need to have this machine working, I opted to go back to something that worked well for me. Again, I'm just what I would call a beginner to intermediate user, so I don't go digging beyond what I can find in step-by-step instructions when it comes to the system itself. I wish I could give more specific detailed information, but all I can tell you is that, for some reason, the wireless network does not work at all under battery power under 10.10, but is working fine, even as I type this, under 10.04 on the same machine, so it's not a hardware issue....
I have to believe other users are experiencing this???
