I also have problems with speed with this wireless adapter after upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04. I have noticed that if I download data with 1 TCP connection, I usually get speeds something like 10-200 kilobytes/second (by using netcat on same local network) but if I start second TCP connection and download, then the total throughput rises to 4-5 megabytes/second. And if I kill one of those downloads, the speed of the remaining TCP stream drops back to slow speeds after a few seconds. Also there are situations when the total download speed drops for a few seconds when transferring data with 2 TCP connections but usually it keeps at 4-5 megabytes/second.
