And another one. In an Arch forum I saw someone mentioning compat-wireless Linux modules and you should install that.
Well I did that and that seems to fix things! I'm back to network-manager after a

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-cw-3.3-3.2.0-26-generic && reboot
