sudo reboot -n causes the same issue.

The last few lines from the console are:

Init: statd main process (774) terminated with status 1
init: portmap main process (605) killed by TERM signal
* Deconfigurating network interfaces...
* Deactivating swap...
* Unmounting weak filesystems...
* Will now restart
[ 301.171892] Restarting system.

than it just hangs there!
