Checks for reported deficiencies:
1. vmware-toolbox-cmd works (e.g. timesync status)
2. run-vmblock\x2dfuse.mount exists and starts without errors
3. vgauth.service exists and starts without errors

That said at everybody, please re-evaluate the ppa [1].
