I just tried to reproduce this bug in KVM (so I'm using just a single disk, but that shouldn't matter given previous investigation of this) using the CD you reference, as well as the Ubuntu alpha-5 i386 desktop CD. Unfortunately, it's working fine for me.

I'll need a few log files to debug this further. Can you please run the install in debug mode (`ubiquity -d` from a terminal window) and attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/installer/debug, and /var/log/partman when you get to the error?
