There is a problem with the Kubuntu 030809 installer (live-cd) with my hardware too. I've got an nForce 650i as well as following hardware and syslog is attached with partman and debug logs following in a moment.
Drive setup:
>Drive 0
>>NTFS Vista 465GiB/500GB
>Drive 1
>>Extended partition
>>>ext3 partition (with previous (failed) attempt at installation with "alternate cd") 239GB
>>>swap partition (same failed attempt) 10GB
>>>NTFS XP 249GB
>>2GB emergency backup partition
