This caused a very big headache. I had to haul an old monitor in the room to
get it going (it was connected to a lcd tv via a dvi-hdmi cable. once I got
the nvidia drivers though, all was well.

Sounds like it could be a relatively simple fix though... Hopefully it'll be
right in ubuntu+1
