Also it's important to include relevant packaging changes to the debian/changelog, not just the upstream changes (i.e. Add python-simplejson to Recommends).

You should close the Ubuntu bug in the debian/changelog. Although I forget that myself sometimes. ;-)

The current Standards-Version is now 3.8.2. We don't bother bumping it for packages also in Debian as it's not worth carrying the diff, but as this is an Ubuntu only package I did.

In your debian copyright file you refer to the versionless symlink license usr/share/common-licenses/GPL. I fixed that to point at GPL-3.

And finally, even though the package isn't in Debian and you are the upstream maintainer, Ubuntu packages generally should have the maintainer field set to Ubuntu Developers <email address hidden>.
