In reply to #32: I don't think this is exactly the same as the RedHat bug report by Linus Torvalds, which was about the rhgb-client program specifically. The symptom (VT_WAITACTIVE failing) was the same, and the investigations might help with the bug here, but it's not the same bug (the rhgb one got fixed).

What I wonder is:
1) could someone from the ubuntu Xorg team look into this (and at least retitle the bug)
2) does anyone experience this bug with another distro, or is it only happening on [k]ubuntu...
