Hi,
I've just installed a fresh version of 12.04 on my machine and am having terrible problems with the screen flickering/going blank for several seconds as well (it was fine with the previous 10.04 version).
lspci lists the graphics card as:
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G98 [Quadro NVS 295] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
I'm using the kernel: 3.2.0-33-generic and haven't installed any additional drivers.
I'm happy to supply any additional information if it would be helpful.
