This team is a group of Toshiba Portege R-thin laptop series owners and/or developers interested in getting it to work 100% under Linux (e.g. Toshiba Portege R500, Toshiba Portege R600, Toshiba Portege R705, etc).

You can check the model and details of you laptop with these commands:
sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
sudo dmidecode -s system-version
lspci -vnnn | perl -lne 'print if /^\d+\:.+(\[\S+\:\S+\])/'

The guide should be obsolete for users of ubuntu karmic 9.10 since that version will have the new version of toshset. Hopeful it will also have the hardware added to the option kernel module.

In some cases, It's been reported that if booted without "edd=off", the kernel hangs saying "Probing EDD (edd=off to
disable)...".
