New laptop with fresh installation of Xubuntu 22.04. Intel Tiger Lake-LP audio controller. When playing any audio, the internal speaker plays no sound except periodic loud crackling noise. Sound equalization is normal when using jack in front of computer, but is "tinny" (i.e., low/nonexistent bass and midtones) when using rear output jack with simple two channel headphones. Jack sense is working correctly because the internal speaker cuts out when a cable is plugged into the rear jack (or front jack, for that matter). To make life more interesting this seems to be also related somehow to the combined headphone/ microphone combo jack issue I have, because it only appears when I use my headset, but only when the microphone is also recognized.

Also tried playing with hdajackretask, because I'd be happy with retasking / giving up my working headphone jack for the speakers, but haven't figured that out.

Plugging headphones via AUX (3.5mm jack) disables the sound. Workaround: in pavucontrol switch profile of the default device ("Built-in Audio") from "Analog Stereo Duplex" to "Analog Stereo Output" and back (after switching back, audio in headphones starts working).

On my Lenovo Legion-7-16ACHg6 laptop I can't hear any sound by internal speakers, but it work by headphones connected to standard jack aux.

When hooking a microphone enabled headphone on the jack plug, the headphones mic is then detected, but there is now no sound output on the headphone.

Sound/speakers don't work at all on Asus Zenbook 14 OLED and other similar models with Realtek ALC294.

I thought it was worth mentioning that sound does work via the headphone jack on Ubuntu 23.10 and that when using the speaker, audio levels are still detected in system settings.
