Several commits of broken Python scripts have gone through recently. We need to actually test these scripts execute in Jenkins.

my proposed plan of action is
1. get my pyflakes fixes in
2. get Jenkins testing with pyflakes
3. file bug report to work on pep8 some time
4. profit
