ruby-rvm fails to install on precise because nonexistent 'admin' group in dpkg-statoverride call in postinst

Bug Description
Installing ruby-rvm fails with this error message:
dpkg-statoverride: error: syntax error: unknown group 'admin' in statoverride file
The system was set up with the precise alternate installer, and in fact there is no 'admin' group. Looking at an oneiric system suggests the oneiric installer did set up an 'admin' group.

sudo apt-get install ruby-rvm
and then it is not working...
