Brand new mysql-server installation - installation output looks like:

All of my mysql logs are empty:

rob@smrob:/var/log$ ls -l | grep mys

Hi Rob. Can you try running mysqld directly:

sudo /usr/sbin/mysqld

And paste the output here? Note that there may also be output in /var/log/upstart/mysql.log
