Bug Description

Problem:

from time to time my panda's serial lose some characters,

How to reproduce it:

to reproduce the problem try to cut&paste a long line of text on a console opened via the serial port.

Some more info:

Been able to reproduce it on every panda board i have (es, rev a/b, etcetc) but ONLY on armel:

P armhf installation with P kernel (3.2.0-1414.19) has no problem at all.

P armel installation (initial O image dist-upgraded to P) with P kernel (3.2.0-1414.19) can reproduce the problem 100%.

E.g, if i copy&paste the following line of text "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog":

here is the result on P armel:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS localhost ttyO2

localhost login: emg

while on armhf:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS panda ttyO2

panda login: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

A vanilla O/omap4 armel installation exposes this problem too.

I personally think it's not a kernel (P armel and armhf kernels have the same exact config) nor an arch specific issue (armel vs amhf), but i can't really think of any other culprits.

the simplest method to reproduce it:

get an O omap4 preinstalled image

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/oneiric/release/ubuntu-11.10-preinstalled-server-armel+omap4.img.gz

install it on your sd card (follow the installation instruction), then reboot the board and let it reach the login prompt:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS panda ttyO2

localhost login:

at this point, try cut&pasting a long line of text (>= 10chars will do it), if it doesn't get through intact, you are affected.

My bad, the sd that i used was actually an O system that i used to hack on. Nothing to see here.
