I've been trying to install foomatic-gui on ubuntu today - at a first glance without success

I've been trying to install foomatic-gui on ubuntu today - at a first glance without success. After starting the program in a terminal, the output made clear that gtkhtml-binding for python (provided by python-gnome2-extras) is missing. Furthermore, the desktop file uses 'gksu -u root' for gaining proper rights instead of gksudo, so on ubuntu you can't launch the program from gnome-menu.

I got the same issue with foomatic-gui, it depends on python-gnome2-extras python2.4-gnome2-extras. I suggest to set the sverity to important, because this bug leads into a program installation which doesn't work at all.

Using the command foomatic-gui (as root) in a terminal I got useful messages from foomatic-gui, showing some changes were needed in my Hoary OS. One change has been impossible to implement.
Synaptic has gtkhtml3.6 (Hoary) and foomatic-gui needs to import gtkhtml. Unfortunately when I edit the foomatic-gui file to import gtkhtml3.6 this name is too long! It seems that the package name length for 'import' is restricted to 8 characters.
This could be resolved if the name in the lists of Synaptic was simply gtkhtml2 (8 characters). I am told that gtkhtml3.6 is the 3.6 version of gtkhtml2
