Bug Description

After upgrading from Ubuntu 6.10 (which did not have this problem) and restarting, the screen resolution is set to 800x600, although the native resolution is 1024x768. Furthermore, gnome-display-properties does not allow me select the native resolution (only 640x480 and 800x600 are shown).

I believe the video on this laptop is an S3 Savage IX8.

I've attached my xorg.conf. Please let me know what else I can provide to help diagnose this issue. Thank you.

It appears that the workaround for this issue is to simply run:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

and restart. Not sure why the installer/upgrader didn't get it right the first time. FWIW, I've attached the xorg.conf after running the above command.
