Bug Description

http://lives.sourceforge.net/
from the homepage:
LiVES is a Free, Open Source video editor *and* a VJ tool.

LiVES lets you start editing and making video right away, without having to worry about formats, frame sizes, or framerates. LiVES will let you start creating your own tools, utilities and effects via the built in RFX builder.

LiVES is aimed at the digital video artist who wants to create their own content, the video editor who wants to produce professional looking video, and the VJ who wants to captivate with spectacular images.

There are existing packages in http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=LiVES

It has been requested in Debian, but there seems to be little interest
due to legal problems with MPlayer: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-

Due to a policy change (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-motu/2007-November/002684.html) I set the status to 'Triaged'. Set it back to 'In Progress' once you have a source package up for review.

I'd like to second this request for LiVES. I've done several video CDs over the past few years, and LiVES is the only tool that has really pulled through for me in combining, editing, and doing special effects for the movies. Thanks!

Are there going to be versions for other CPU types, like AMD64 which is great platform for multimedia?

Thank you

Can somebody please do a version for AMD64, and other CPU architectures, preferably for all currently supported versions of Ubuntu (backports).

Ubuntu (and Linux) needs some mid level video editors in all recent versions.

Thank you.

Hi,

Basing my work on some of other's I've packaged lives for Debian. Building the source package creates lives, lives-data, libweed0 and libweed-dev. The package has been sponsored and uploaded to ftp-master.debian.org, where it has been approved by the ftp master team. It will be moved from incoming.debian.org to the main Debian repository in roughly 2 1/2 hours. I'll then file a sync bug.

I know there have been multiple efforts to package for Ubuntu, but seeing as this version is (almost) in Debian, I suggest it be the version that get's synced into Ubuntu.

Thanks
