Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

I have a dual core machine which needs the -generic kernel installed to use both cores, the -386 kernel does not seem to have SMP support.

When I try to install nvidia-kernel I get the following :

mikeh@scotty:~$ sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  linux-image-2.6.20-13-386 linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-13-386
Suggested packages:
  avm-fritz-firmware-2.6.20-13 nvidia-kernel-source
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  linux-image-2.6.20-13-386 linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-13-386 nvidia-glx

Installing that version of the kernel seriously affects the performance of my machine.

This package dependency did not appear for me with linux-image-2.6.20-13-generic and nvidia-glx.

I'm rejecting this bug. Try using "sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-14-generic" instead (where 2.6.20-14 is the version of your kernel.

Better yet, use the restricted-manager availiable in system> admin
