See the players amarok or clementine for how this should work. We already have last.fm scrobbling (via extension), so all the account info is presumably readily available.
Any time there is a current song, two buttons "Love" and "Ban" should be available to express oneself. See screenshot for the icons clementine uses. I'm not sure "ban" can work when we're not playing last.fm itself; if not, only "Love" makes sense until we get last.fm radio support. But the API doesn't seem to differentiate between love and ban in that way. This information lets last.fm make better suggestions, and in general is a good way to keep track of good music finds in a non-service-
As a detail, both actions can be undone, so the button should look like a switch or change from love to unlove and viceversa.
The love action should ideally be available in the toolbar, tray icon, and via a global shortcut.
