Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
I have the notebook Toshiba A100-192 with video card bases on ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. If I use the VESA driver all works well, but I can't to set display resolution in 1280x800. If to install the package xorg-driver-fglrx, resolution become correct, but all applications of OpenOffice and F-Spot crashes when I try to launch them.

Try to install latest drivers available from ATI. A good step-by-step description how to do so is located at ubuntu.com (direct link: http:// tinyurl. com/39kpsy). I also had the same problems with my PCI-e X600: Starting eg. OO just showed me the splash screen for half a second and then it just closed /wo any error-msg. Now with my 'selfmade' fglrx drivers everything runs just fine. It's really worth taking some minutes to compile your own *.deb's ;)
