Black Screen on Load

Bug Description

When booting from cdrom to install 7.04 beta I select the 'Start or Install Ubuntu' option. When Ubuntu loads I hear the music but I get a black screen. If I reboot and choose 'Start Ubuntu in safe graphics mode' I get a brown screen and nothing works. I cannot move my mouse or do anything else. I currently have 6.10 running without any problems. The laptop that I am using is a HP nx6125 with an ATI craphics card. I have tried both the AMD64 version and the i386 version. I was also able to get herd 4 to load without any problems.

Video Card: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M SERIES
Laptop display and attached HP f1905 Monitor

The same is happenning to me, but I don't get any brown screen.

I currently run 6.06 on this hardware:

Custom Made computer:

- AMD Athlon XP 2600+
- ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard (Nforce chipset)
- 2 x 512MB DDR 333
- MSI AGP GeForce FX 5200 128MB
- Pinnacle PCTV Pro Tuner Card
- hda: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160GB
- hdc: Sony DVD-RW
- hdd: Philips 4x/24x DVD

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I had to move off of Ubuntu and I don't have a system to test this on.

I'm closing this bug because, as of now, it cannot be tested and therefore reproduced. You may reopen this bug should you arrive with the same problem by clicking the Invalid status and changing it to new. Thank you for taking the time to help make Ubuntu better!

I have an Ati Radeon X1600 XGE and after my ubuntu loads It gives me a black screen and I dont hear any music or anything. I have ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Edition. thx
