Bug Description

After attempting to install programs from the software centre I get the following error message:

Authentication Error
Software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available. (org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.Error.Failed: ('system-bus-name', {'name': ':1.97'}): org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-packages

The log says:

The log is actually a red-herring.

I think this bug is really that there is no policykit agent running. Software-center could try to start one,
but it really should be the job of either policykit or the desktop environment to do that.
