Bug Description

When attempting to do a preseeded install on phsyical hardware via cobbler and NFS, the quantal-desktop-i386.iso from 2012-09-08 with md5sum 28346e20ebcf9a1c1f25b5d1a0e92a97, I get "The installer encountered an unrecoverable error and will now reboot."

The build number for that image was 20120908. The image with build number 20120910 and md5sum 8ca7dfa7190a94a4d0e4e1bab5cadd6b also displays this issue.

Could it be that your network settup is causing this issue, because there where installations of the builds you encounter (that have other problems), that do not show this.

Can you test a direct install with simple cd?

The machines in question are in the magners lab in the lexington office, and I'm not sure they have CD-ROM drives, so I can't test a CD install at the moment. If there are other parameters I can try for the NFS install, I'd be happy to try those. Other images are working on those machines via NFS as well, so if it is a network problem, it's only a network problem on the most recent desktop install CDs. We have a couple additional machine we can use for troubleshooting, and I can work with you on getting access to those if necessary.

CD installs were tested on VMs for that bug, and gave the same results.

The images with buildnumber 20120911 are working as expected.
