Bug Description

Binary package hint: hwdb-client

Hi all,
The mouse is a ps/2 port mouse, one has to make an effort of clicking twice or thrice to click forward to next page for next entry. Now as I have already sent the submission I cannot test it anymore, but all the time when it was crashing as well as even today when finally I was able to submit my hardware details it required clicking around twice or thrice to make it understood I want to go to next page. Sometimes also had to also click on the desktop & then back again to the forward button to make it work. Thanx in advance.

Same bug here, particularly noticeable with install scripts. With USB mice:

Click once on "Forward" sometimes works.
Click twice on "Forward" sometimes works
Click once and Enter once on "Forward" is more likely to work.

This is particularly nervewracking when dealing with the partitioning scripts, since over the last couple months I've wiped out a Windows 98 and a Windows XP. Still rebuilding.....

Seems to me this odd behavior has been around a long time on a lot of Ubuntu menus.

Cheers, Jerry

I have previously reported this problem in text accompanying bug reports for the Ubuntu installer (ubiquity?) and the hwdb-client. I am using a Microsoft wireless optical mouse and keyboard through a KVM to PS/2 serial ports on the computer. I have found that if the mouse pointer is over a button when a window is drawn then it is necessary to move the pointer off the button and then back over the button for the button to be "pressed" when the mouse is clicked.

G'day Pascal,

I just ran through the hwdb client again and a reported problem is still
present. The problem is that, even after the window is redrawn with a
new question, if the button to be clicked hasn't moved from under the
cursor, or the cursor hasn't moved off the button to be clicked, then
clicking the button isn't recognised. It is necessary to move the
cursor off the button and then back onto it again before clicking, if
the click is to be detected.

Good luck with finding a solution as this problem seem sto be present in
many places in Ubuntu, especially when installing.

Regards,

Warwick Lill
