Bug Description

Binary package hint: kvm

uname -a: Linux grogan 2.6.20-14-generic #2 SMP Mon Apr 2 20:37:49 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

I built a Windows XP VM under qemu/kvm and set it about doing the chore of updating itself using Windows Update. Then I moved it to a different workspace so I could take it out of my field of view while I got other work done. It stopped making progress altogether. The moment I switched back to its workspace, it made progress again. This behavior is repeatable. Interestingly, minimizing the window does not cause the VM to stop progressing.

Thank you very much for this bug report!

Can you (or anyone else) reproduce this bug in Hardy or Intrepid?

I'm having exactly the same problem in intrepid when trying the incognito livecd (http://anonymityanywhere.com/incognito/) with the following command:
kvm -m 512 -cdrom incognito-i686-2008.1-r1.iso

It is especially noticeable at boot: when the cpu is used at 100%, switch to another worspace; it will fall to 0% and the livecd won't continue to boot till you switch back to its workspace.
