Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi

After starting to charge an empty battery, gnome-power-manager reports "4 minutes until charged". In reality it's more like a couple of hours.

acpi -V reports sensible percentages, but the time "until charged" seems to be scaled wrongly.

Acer TravelMate 8101 using daily-live 20070411.

Problem also present on:
Acer Aspire One on up-to-date Intrepid (21/02/09)

The Estimated Time History when discharging is also funny. Looks like it starts out all wrong but gets correct eventually.

BTW, the Voltage History is flat at zero.

Immediately after plugging the AC, the estimation jumps up to the (approximately) correct 3h, but then falls down to a few minutes.

Folks, there have been no updates or activity on this report for over a year. Does the problem continue to occur, with Karmic (or Lucid, if you are using the beta)?

This appears to be a defective bios/hardware reporting an insane rate of charge rather than a bug in the acpi package.
