Bug Description

Binary package hint: muine

Muine fails to start on kubuntu edgy with the following error:

$ muine

Unhandled Exception: System.Exception: Failed to initialize the audio backend:
Could not render default GStreamer audio output sink
  at Muine.PlaylistWindow.SetupPlayer () [0x00000]
  at Muine.PlaylistWindow..ctor () [0x00000]
  at Muine.Global.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000]

Audio (using alsa) does work on this install, other audio and video application play sound fine. I do not use any type of sound server like arts etc. No other programs are using the sound card when starting muine.

Only after installing gstreamer0.10-alsa, gstreamer0.10-plugins-good, (and libshout3 as a dependency) the program would even start.

When using the interface (before even loading anything), it repeatedly complains on the command line about "/bin/sh: /usr/bin/esd: not found".

Next, the program was unable to play something as simple as an mp3, claiming "Audio backend error: You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins" and subsequently "Audio backend error: Internal data flow error" until I just installed all gstreamer stuff ('apt-get install gstreamer0.10-*'). Now it works, although it still complains about not finding esd (even when playing songs already!).

So at the very least several dependencies, recommends, and suggests are missing from the package.

This appears to have been fixed in 0.8.7-1.1 which is now in Gutsy. Is there any chance you can confirm? Thank you.
