Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

I was having trouble with 2.6.20-14 (2.6.20-14.24), and upgraded. The kernel starts, but hangs a few seconds in waiting for the root device. This hang persists for a long time (I haven't waited more than 15 minutes, but I'm guesing that is too long anyway). I suspect this is related to bug #106371, but I'm not entirely sure (my motherboard also uses sata_nv). At the current time, I cannot produce any useful output from the non-booting system: I'll retest with the -generic kernel in the near future.

Which -15 kernel did you try? Please test with generic-15.25 .

The failure to boot was with linux-image-2.6.20-15-lowlatency 2.6.20-15.25. The same system does boot with linux-image-2.6.20-15-generic 2.6.20-15.25. This appears to only be a problem with the -lowlatency variant.

We don't really support the lowlatency kernels, especially not in a released system (well, the -15.25 kernel will be the one we release with).
