Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Kaffeine displays an error message when a file with a special char like # is opened. Though an error message is shown, kaffeine plays the file sometimes after clicking ok on the error message box. I allready reported this bug to the kde bugtracker!

To reproduce, rename a video file to e.g "video #1.avi". try to open it with Kaffeine. You should see an error message. Click "ok" and Kaffeine should either play the file as normally or it displays further error messages.

I can confirm this is still happening in Feisty, running Kaffeine 0.8.5. At first I thought the videos were corrupted and re-downloaded them, same result. Then I noticed that the only files that wouldn't play had "#" in them. Removed the #, the files played. Contrary to the initial bug report though, the files never played for me after clicking OK. Kaffeine just kept complaining that the files didn't exist and would ignore them.

I just wanted to add that its not limited to just the filename, even if the directory has the # character, the videos inside it wont play.

this bug is still being a PITA in gutsy tribe 5. The worst part of this is that I reported this bug several years ago and it was fixed in the one before feisty, then it popped back up again. I think the actual bug is in xine (atleast it was when this was broken several years ago).

yes, it's a xine issue.

upcoming 1.1.9 release if xine-lib will fix this once and for all ;)

Actual libxine in hardy heron is 1.1.10 (package 1.1.10.1-2ubuntu1) and I can`t reproduce the problem any more, so I set this to fix released.

Please feel free to reopen the bug, if this issue still occurs for you on an up-to-date hardy heron.
