Bug Description

When using the upgrade in update-manager to upgrade from Ubuntu Studio 12.04 to 12.10, the metas photography and publishing are not included. This confusing because the the old graphics meta included some of the photography apps. So effectively the grphics meta is not updated really either.

It appears Ubuntu Studio is not ready for the upgrade path.

It would be helpful to have the log files from your distribution upgrade. You should be able to attach them by running the command 'apport-collect 1066401' in a terminal. Thanks in advance.

Brian, I can do that, but I think the problem is that we have two new
metas in Ubuntu-Studio. They were not there in 12.04 and are included in
12.10. They are included as seeds for the live ISO, but are not depends in
any of the metas that are part of 12.04 (like desktop for example). So I
think the release-upgrader is doing what it should... but we need to fix
our seeds. My plan was to add these two metas as depends to desktop till
after the next LTS (so LTS to LTS works). We hope at some point to create
a plugin that allows the user to only install the workflow metas they
want.

If all of this makes sense to you, we can call this bug belonging to
ubuntustudio-meta.

i wonder if we need to SRU a transitional package into 12.04 to facilitate this upgrade path?

You just have to decide how you want to handle the upgrade. Do you want the new metas installed when one installs ubuntustudio-desktop? Do you want them just installed on upgrade to 12.10?

Hi Len,

I am not sure if we ever fixed this upgrade patch, but 12.10 is no longer supported so I am closing the bug (to reduce the clutter a bit). I assume everyone got past that to the new releases, at least using apt-get install.

Cheers,

Ross
