Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

When trying to write to CD-RW's Nautilus can't blank my medias or write on my RW's, while cdrecord is the solution to my problem, it both is able to blank and re-write on them.

I'll attack output from cdrecord, and screen shots from nautilus cd-writer here.

Thank you for your bug report.

Lennart:
Could you run
gconftool-2 -s /apps/nautilus-cd-burner/debug true
then use
nautilus-cd-burner
from the command line and attach the output to this bug?

That fun, now it works when using same CD, as it seems nautilus also uses cdrecord, if I remember correct that last one was written with k3b, I'll try again with a k3b written cd, later and report my findings.

Finally captures a fault again.

Something tells me this might be relevant as well as the nautilus/cdrecord output.

looks like something is using the CD and prevents nautilus to record on it. Did you interact with the CD in any way before? Does "lsof /dev/scd1" list something when that's happening?

Nothing else should be using the cd writer at that time, didn't check with lsof though.

But again cdrecord wrote the iso down without any complains.

reading the log nautilus-cd-burner doesn't bug every time, and the error "cdrecord stderr: Error trying to open /dev/scd1 exclusively (Device or resource busy)... retrying in 1 second." is a cdrecord one

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducable with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
