Bug Description

Binary package hint: dmraid

Using the 4/15 i386 feisty daily desktop CD:

After letting the dmraid package install (or rather partially install, as mentioned here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/106825 )

I do see the device as:
/dev/mapper/jmicron_GRAID\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \
However, no partition devices show up with a 1, 2, on the end. That and /dev/mapper/control are the only contents of /dev/mapper/ . Ubiquity and gparted normally do not show the device along with /dev/sd*, although I can force gparted to use it (gksu gparted /dev/mapper/jmicron_GRAID\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ ) and it then shows all the partitions correctly. This is a bug I have observed in some other linux distros, but not others.

Thanks for your bug report. I think this is know problem upstream, and a workaround is to make the device name ("GRAID") 16 characters long.
