Bug Description

So today I got a email asking me to file a bug for a package that I am trying to get into Debian so that way it will make its way to Ubuntu
http://mentors.debian.net/package/gimp-qmlexporter

When filing bug using "reportbug -B debian "
I was asked if I wanted to use the gtk interface. I said cool and yes !
but then it told me that I had to install some python lib so I did . Of cource that made bug report fail. so I launched again And then it asked me to install another python lib for spell checking. IMHO these libs should be installed by default. That way when user wants to file bug for debian they do not end up filing out 3 bug reports just to get one (because of the dependence libs)

The libs are
python-vte
python-gtkspell

Thanks

So after talking this over with the great people on the Motu team The best plain of action is to.
Find the debian maintainer
Talk to him/her about a meta package called reportbug-gtk (If there is not one that is)

Optional: Add session installer so if things are not installed it installs for you this would also take care of the multiple restarts of reportbug .

Make a small binary file called debian-bug that would just launch reportbug-gtk -B debian

nope sorry, that won't happen (in Debian at least, in Ubuntu you're
free to do what's best for you).

Thanks Sandro Tosi (morph-debian) I am v.new to these things and It was just a pain to restart the bug over and over again. I guess that I will stick to Ubuntu. But I am still going to make this package and stick it in my ppa. Not sure if This bug should be closed or what. Any other input is great. Thanks again .

Another idea might be to test for the package when reportbug starts, and not when they are required - at least it sounds like you have entered information about the bug multiple times, with the program complaining about missing libs only after that?!

That is 100% correct each time that I had to install a new package. I had to restart the bug report. 3 times Just makes it hard for someone to file big for debian on Ubuntu.Again the only reason why I was filling bug was because I was asked to on mentors.debian this was to get new package into debian. Though all this has changed and I am just adding code to package that was already in repo's It is frustrating to have to file 3 bugs for one Bug. I just think that it would be super cool if there was a "debian-bug" just like there is a "Ubuntu-bug" Thanks for all of your input
