Bug Description

Excuse me first for bad english...
I have an hp dv4266 with ati mobility x700.
I try to run the feisty cd but X don't start in both mode (safe or not). I think that is for the xorg 7.2.
I have now on my PC an edgy and i tried to install xorg 7.2 on this with the same problem.
With xorg open source ati driver X starts but i don't see the real image but the screen become all black quickly.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file and your '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' file as attachments to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

I believe the vesa-problem is solved, but more interesting would be to get ati working. Can you try a gutsy prerelease (live-cd is fine), and provide the xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log if it fails?
