Bug Description

C-DAC India (a Govt of India enterprise) developed a whole bunch of software to support Indic languages including fonts for various Indian languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, etc. These are very high quality Open Type fonts. C-DAC placed them in Public Domain as of June 20, 2005 according to the Press release at http://www.cdac.in/HTML/press/2q05/prs_rl166.asp. Telugu fonts are downloadable at http://www.ildc.gov.in/telugu/htm/otfonts-lin.htm.

These fonts work properly and I verified them to be working. Please consider packaging them and releasing them in Feisty + 1.

Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have the possibility of being implemented if you submit a specification for it. First check whether the idea is already registered <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+specs>, and if so, contact the specification's drafter about your ideas. Otherwise, you can start writing a spec yourself. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications>
