Bug Description

Firefox isn't saving the image when I ask it to.

Steps:
1. go to http://www.interfacelift.com/ and find a wallpaper ( e.g. http://interfacelift.com/dl/wallpaper/01232_lazydaysii_2560x1600.jpg )
2. select a resolution and left-click download. On the image that comes up (or the example link above), try to right click it and 'save image as'.
3. try to save it somewhere. when you click Save it won't appear at that location.

Works fine for me. Are you sure you're looking in the correct location that you saved it in?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in firefox.

Thank you xtknight for your report.

I'm unable to reproduce that behavior; It worked for me:

~$ ls -ln *jpg
-rw-r--r-- 1 1000 1000 1177217 2007-04-25 10:36 01232_lazydaysii_2560x1600.jpg

I have the EXACT same issue as the OP. Even from the same website. If I right-click and "Save Image" it pulls up the download window and says completed. If I click on Open, I get the moved/deleted message.

I have found though if I use CTL-S instead of right clicking, it seems to work fine. I guess that's a work around, but it's not the greatest. I tried changing the download directory into a different folder and still didn't work. It will save other file types, just not images of any kind.

Ubuntu version 7.04
FF: 2.0.0.3
Acer Aspire 2010

This is a brand new install (I did it twice just to make sure) and the issue presented both times.

Hmm ...

Where do you save the file to?

What kind of partition is it where you save the file on? windows
(e.g. fat or ntfs)?

Saved to the Desktop. Tried creating a new directory on the desktop (aptly called "downloads") and saving it there. Still no dice. The partition was whatever Ubuntu created when I did the format and install. I let it format the entire hdd and do its thing.

Just FYI I (the OP) have had the issue ever since I have reported it. It seems I can never save the images properly aside from using drag-and-drop to nautilus. Not even saving a 320x240 image from there works. It's the weirdest thing.
